As weights and speeds in modern agricultural transport grow, axle and braking technology must also evolve and Stronga agricultural bulk trailers are specified with axles and brakes well within their technical capacity using proven drum brake technology and high strength long life bearings.

For customers wanting advanced suspension features on Stronga truck or agricultural trailers there are several advantages gained by specifying optional air suspension.
Air suspensions offer good directional stability with optimum travel smoothness. Ride height can be lowered and remains consistent under fully loaded conditions whilst shock absorbers prevent trailer vibration. Air bags ensure optimal road holding due to the even pressure exerted on the tyres a factor which also provides for enhanced braking and reduced tyre wear while the option of axle lift gives greater operational efficiency.

We fit large capacity air receivers giving customers plenty of spare reservoir capacity for the air suspension.

Specifying air suspension also opens the door for customers to take advantage for further performance enhancing options like Wabco roll stability control integrated with the EBS braking control unit which reliably prevents vehicle roll-over within certain physical limits.
The roll stability function integrated in the software and hardware of the EBS modulator. The system assesses the vehicle data such as wheel speed, load information and by means of an integrated sensor, transverse acceleration data. By analyzing this data quickly and effectively, the vehicle electronic control unit detects the chances of vehicle roll-over and automatically applies the brakes.

Choosing air suspension opens another option for customers, that of lift axles, well used in commercial trucking for many years this technology has been underutilised in agriculture.
Stronga in partnership with Wabco offer the same control technology widely used in trucks to manually lift axles on empty trailers and electronically lower the axles when the trailer is loaded.

The simplest form of steering axle enables the trailing axle to steer thereby reducing the turning force need to tow trailers around corners especially when load. An important feature of any free steering axle is the locking facility when reversing.


The self steering axle makes for reduced stress on road surfaces, tyres tractor and trailer and ensures quick steering response when travelling through corners.

Another option to enhance Stronga bulk trailers is the positive or power steered facility with hydraulic cylinders operating the steering of the axles mounted on the trailer.
A system that works when travelling forward and reversing.


This system works by virtue of hydraulic cylinders connected to the tractor with oil flowing and thereby operating the hydraulic cylinders on the steering axles.
This feature makes trailers fitted with this option very manoeuvrable in tight yards and saves the scrubbing on road and field surfaces although owning positive steering does mean increased time taken hitching and unhitching the trailer from the tractor.

Increasing tractors speeds have a large effect on the amount kinetic energy needing to be braked. For example braking a 50 Kph tractor /trailer combination needs around 150% more energy than the same unit at 32 Kph.
Coupled with larger heavier tractors and trailers with larger loads and the need for large drum brakes to provide effective stopping power is clear.
Adequately sized drum brakes supplied on Stronga cargo trailers offer proven stopping power that work even in rugged agricultural field conditions while providing low service costs with readily available economically priced wearing part replacement. This benefits customers with lower cost of ownership and a safer tractor – trailer transport solution.


Brakes fitted to Stronga bulk agricultural trailers are sized for both performance and long service life leading to reduced brake wear on the trailer and the tractor.
High thrust bearings sit between the axle shaft and brake drum to absorb the large forces that occur under heavy braking while s-cam brake operators provide graduated braking in all conditions leading to reduced brake wear giving longer service intervals and lower operating costs.


Stronga look after the small details like double springs and larger diameter brake pipes on hydraulic brake systems to increase the speed that brakes come off after actuation, further reducing brake and tyre wear on the bulk trailer.
